How do I use this site?
1.SHOUTS
If you want to find a Harlem event or venue, promote an upcoming Harlem event or venue, write a review about a Harlem restaurant, cafe, lounge etc or just say HELLO, then post your message in the Shout field. But you are limited to writing up to 200 characters with each shout so make it brief and to the point. However, you can post as many Shouts as you want so if you could not get it all in one Shout, you can continue on the next one. (SPAMMING IS NOT ALLOWED)
LINKS
Have an interesting Harlem-related website, web-page or web-video you would like to share with with other members? Just copy the URL (web address), click the Link icon, paste it into the Link field, type a message and SHOUT it out. Other members can click on the message link and view the content. Plus, it helps you save character space for your SHOUTs.
PHOTOS
You can also attach photos with your shout to enhance your message and share your images.
VIDEO LINKS
Users can copy then paste Youtube or Vimeo urls within the LINK section, which will allow the video to be shown in your shout.
 
2. CHECK-IN

WeHarlem has apps for the iPhone, Blackberry, and Java enable smartphones which allows members to “Check-In” at their present location. The app tracks the location in real-time and displays various places (restaurants, cafes, stores, libraries etc.) in their immediate area. Users can choose the place they are in or input information about a new place if it is not displayed in our database. Other WeHarlem members can view the place where they checked-in from the website or mobile app. Users can add a message and/or photo with the Check-in to give it a more in depth review. Check-Ins cannot be done through a web browser and must be access through the mobile apps.
 
3. BADGES
Users will receive their Sightseer badge for their first check in. This one is simple to get.
 
To receive a Explorer badge, users will have to visit 10 different places. No more sitting in a room, now users have to walk around.
 
This is where it becomes serious. To get a Adventurer badge, users have to visit 25 different places.
 
Only the most faithful users will receive a Connoisseur badge. This badge will receive every user with more than a 50 check-ins. Let’s see who will be the first one to receive this badge.
 
For users who like to change places during their night out, we have prepared a Party-Hard! badge. They will receive this badge after they check-in for 4 times during one night out. Drinking and earning badges, what a night!
 
A Nightowl badge will be received for every user that checks-in after 3AM. Please note, we don’t check what he/she is doing 
.
 
In a network with subscriptions, users can receive a People Know You badge if 5 other users subscribe to them.
 
If users have more than 20 subscribers, they receive a Popular badge. They have to be really interesting to get this one.
 
A Celebrity badge is only for real celebrities. 50 subscribers will prove one’s celebrity status, and he/she will receive this badge.
 
Great minds think alike, and every user that has been liked by 5 other users will receive a Got Your Attention! badge.
 
Persuasive will receive their badge after their shout has been liked by 20 people.
 
We call Influential anyone whose shout has been liked by 50 people, and we give them a Trendsetter badge.
 
There is also a special VIP at award. This award gets user with a most check-ins at one certain place. 
 
4. PHOTO GALLERY
WeHarlem has now given members a photo gallery section so that others can view all the images that each member has ever uploaded.
 
5. MORE CHARACTERS
WeHarlem has increased the character limit from 150 to 200 for each Shout. Now you have more to say with each Shout.
 
6. LIKE
Like a Shout that someone has posted on WeHarlem? Now you can let that member know by simply clicking on the “Like” link on their shout.
 
7. WEPEAT
If you want to help spread the message of another member's Shout? Then click on the WEPEAT link on their shout and it will repeat the message in your profile shout. Other members will know it came from someone else once they see WEPEAT.
 
8. FIND PEOPLE
You can now find which of Friends have joined WeHarlem by clicking on Find People. You can find your Friends on Twitter and Facebook and much more.
 
9. FRIENDS
WeHarlem has changed terminologies from your connections. Friends are members who are “Following” you and members who you “Follow”.
 
10. FOLLOWERS
Followers are members who decided to follow your shout messages.
 
11. FOLLOWING
Following are members who you decided to follow regarding their shout messages.
 
12. Twitter/Facebook Connect
WeHarlem allows members to connect with their Twitter and Facebook accounts. When members connect with their Twitter and/or Facebook accounts they have the ability to post a message on WeHarlem and have it simultaneously posted to their Facebook wall and/or Twitter profile time-line. Why would you want to do this? Maybe you would like to spread the word about something without having to post the message 2 or 3 times.
To access this feature, click on Settings on the top menu and select Connections on the right side of the page.
 
13. NEW WEHARLEM IPHONE APP
WeHarlem released it's new WeHarlem iPhone App and it is available for FREE at the Apple iTunes Store via your phone or web. Let us know what you think!
 
14. THE WEWIFI PROJECT
